Q.1 After Verbal section, software hangs, shows main screen or gives Run Time Error.
Q.2 After login screen the software gives a message saying “To run the software you need BigCD in the CD drive” even when the CD is in the drive.
Q.3 No audio is heard when Pronunciation is clicked.
Q.4 When I enter any user name to create a new user login, the software says “User name already registered”
Q.5 Questions appear black/ patchy and options cannot be seen.
Q.6 Screen size is improper, questions getting cut on the right.
Q.7 I have accidentally given a test and have selected Test Quit and am wary of losing questions.
Q.8 I am scoring really low on your tests.

Q.1

  After Verbal section, software hangs, shows main screen or gives Run Time Error.
Ans
  1. If your computer is running Office 2007, then jump to 6 else continue.
  2. Open My Computer and browse CD ROM contents.
  3. Open Patch folder.
  4. Double click on setuppad.exe application to install Microsoft ActiveX Control Pad.
  5. After installation, re-start computer and check if our software works fine. If it does not, continue.
  6. There is a DLL conflict that needs to be resolved.
  7. Go to WINDOWS folder.
  8. Go to System32 folder.
  9. Find a file by the name FM20.DLL.
  10. Have this file renamed to FM20old.DLL
  11. Now uninstall our software from Start->Settings->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs.
  12. During removal the computer will give an error saying FM20.DLL not found, click Ok.
  13. For shared files, select Remove None.
  14. Now reinstall the software browsing the CD contents and selecting Setup.exe.
Note: Our software should be installed in the same path as it was installed previously to prevent re-registration
Q.2 After login screen the software gives a message saying “To run the software you need BigCD in the CD drive” even when the CD is in the drive.

  1. Uninstall the software by going to Start->Settings->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Uninstall the software.
  3. Re-install the software by clicking on Setup.exe from our CD.
  4. Install in same path as currently installed to prevent re-registration.
Q.3 No audio is heard when Pronunciation is clicked.
Ans
  1. Pronunciation is a system dependent feature and is not guaranteed to work on all computers. We can still try to follow a few steps to see if it works on your system.
  2. Are other sound files being played back properly?
  3. If yes, then insert our CD in your CD-ROM drive.
  4. Browse CD contents using My Computer.
  5. Double click on the following files peedy.exe, merlin.exe, spchapi.exe, tv_enua.exe, msagent.exe.
  6. You may have to accept some agreement, select Yes.
Q.4 When I enter any user name to create a new user login, the software says “User name already registered”
Ans
  1. The software is unable to access the database properly.
  2. Uninstall the software from Start->Settings->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Install the software in the same location as previously installed to prevent re-registration
Q.5 Questions appear black/ patchy and options cannot be seen.
Ans
  1. This is because of desktop themes being active on your computer.
  2. Windows Classic theme should be selected for proper operation of the software.
  3. To select this theme, right click on the desktop and click Properties.
  4. Select Windows Classic as current theme.
  5. Start our software and see whether you are able to see options and questions well.
  6. You may select the previous theme after you are done using the software, however while you are using the software you need to select Windows Classic theme only.
Q.6 Screen size is improper, questions getting cut on the right.
Ans
  1. Right click on the desktop and select Properties.
  2. Select Settings tab and check the value of Screen Resolution slider.
  3. For GRE and GMAT CDs it should be 800x600 whereas for TOEFL it should be 1024x768.
  4. Set resolution accordingly and click Ok.
Q.7 I have accidentally given a test and have selected Test Quit and am wary of losing questions.
Ans
  1. Start the software.
  2. On the login screen select “Click here to signup” link.
  3. Create a new user profile and log in to this profile the next time you start testing.
  4. The new profile is a blank profile and can be used by you from scratch
Q.8 I am scoring really low on your tests.
Ans
  1. Our tests are pretty difficult and you need to keep good pace to complete the test.
  2. Usually students end up scoring about 200-250 points more on the real GRE and 100-150 points more on the GMAT as compared to our tests. TOEFL cannot be evaluated.
